Why don’t soda companies use natural sugar like Sun Crystals Natural Sweetner?

According to their website:

This 100% natural product is our unique blend of two all-natural, non-GM* ingredients–raw cane sugar and erythritol, a zero-calorie sweetener fermented from sugars. *The Sun Crystals(TM) Brand does not use ingredients from sources that are bio-engineered.

So why don’t they use this instead of the dangerous aspartame or sucralose?

Several reasons, cost being the first. If you research the product, you will find it is very costly in comparison to the other “artificial” sweeteners or even those considered natural sweeteners with reduced calorie loading. Secondly, the product is not as sweet as it seems in all cases, making introduction in beverages questionable at this time. Some reports show it can take as much as four times the amount of Sun Crystals to equal the sweetening power of other sweeteners.

This absolutely does not mean that Sun Crystals doesn’t have a unique niche in the food industry, as it obviously has. Just that the beverage industry is not ready for its introduction and formulation at this time from what I can find.

It took many years to see saccharine go by the wayside in low calorie drinks and time will also be a deciding factor as new sweeteners arrive in the marketplace.
